Hey, I’m Matt — one of the founders of ION.
I got my start in high school with a GoPro HERO2, filming surf and skate edits with friends just for the fun of it. That early spark eventually grew into a full-blown obsession with the art of storytelling. What began as a hobby turned into a creative outlet that I’ve carried across continents, from the mountains of Colorado to the streets of Southeast Asia.
I’ve always been drawn to the outdoors—surfing, snowboarding, climbing, and exploring new places. Those experiences taught me how to merge the spirit of street photography with the motion of action sports and the emotion of landscape and portraiture. My military background built the foundation for the technical side of what I do: understanding color science, workflows, and gear inside and out, so creativity can flow without friction.
At ION, I channel that blend of structure and spontaneity. Our team thrives on precision, storytelling, and collaboration—and for me, that balance between technical mastery and creative freedom is where the best work happens.

There’s always been a current beneath everything I do — somewhere between instinct and intention, pulling me toward more. I’m drawn to experiences that can’t be replicated, because that’s where vision begins. I believe Ion is charged to be better than average.
Pursuing something undefined isn’t taught — it’s built. With an engineering background and a love for creativity, I’ve learned to create something bigger than myself — charged with life, and charged with doing better every day.
Vision hasn’t always come easily — literally and figuratively. I’ve worn glasses most of my life, and I’ve come to value seeing vividly as the essence of living fully. The camera has become my prosthetic solution, helping me see better, see twice, and see more than just the focus point. This is how stories are told. This is how vision is built — through community.
Hey, I'm Trevor — one of the founders of ION.
Early in my photography career, I realized that the best work doesn't happen alone. Collaboration turns good ideas into great ones, and that's exactly why ION exists.
My background is built on operating in high-stress environments — from overlanding in sub-zero temps to surfing over razor-sharp reefs to climbing remote alpine peaks. I'm drawn to clients who share the drive to push limits creatively and produce content that stands out.
My time in military operations taught me the power of communication, leadership, and trust within a team. At ION, we lean on those values. We cover each other's gaps, share creative vision, and bring a level of cohesion that individual photographers simply can't match.
